Bookings Bookings and enquiries aplenty !!

by robbwebbphotography

Welcome back to our blog, well as we mentioned recently, there has been a new spring in the step of the team and thats turing enquiries into solid bookings.
So, to pose a question (as I like to) do people make decisions based on how we come across on the telephone, I reckon they do. How often have you had the best month ever, just after the best holiday ever !
To quote a recent client,
“you guys were really interested in us from our initial contact, we didnt want immediate action plans and draft proposals, what we wanted was a company with the same high energy levells and that came across over the telephone, and we new we could do business with like minded people”

The conversation led on to a subject that we seem to be encountering during client meetings on a regular basis and that is how our competitors behave during initial conversations, both by telephone and email, with the same block email content cut and paste from templates with little thought or consideration for the new clients requirements and the same goes for the telephone, often the person on the phone can be heard typing an email, forgetting the callers name and worse, just seeming uninterested in this new opportunity.

Have some of our competitors lost their way, perhaps they are simply too busy and dont have the time to commit to new clients. We are so tempted, and probably will, start calling these companies ourselves, just to prove that our clients arent simply unlucky, but then they cant be as they end up on our books, so carry on my friends through your fog of big business and apathy, we are here with a clear head, a fired up imagination and all the energy and drive to treat you the way you want, with our full undivided attention.

Finally, the last few days have brought us a new client looking for fresh modern and sharp images taken around their corporate headquarters for their website and brochure use and excitingly a wedding booking for May 2010 that is going to have us working our socks off at a stunning local venue, jumping on and off boats, and culminating at a cracking reception venue, happy happy days.

Take care, and remember this, “every day you make the decision to be excellent or mediocre, so make today an excellent one”
Enjoy

Things are looking up !

2009 October 25

Hello everyone out there following our blog, its been a good month, with some of our hard work on the website, our wedding fayre activity and our publicity machine starting to pay off.
The websites have been seeing more and more activity week on week, and thats after we made the conscious decision to stop fighting Google and just make a good site that works, delivers what our customers are looking for, and to hell in a top hat with gaining ranking places on Google. We are currently way down the rankings on our chosen search of “Dorset wedding Photographers” with us just making page ten ! with most of the people ahead of us clearly working on their websites and less on actually taking groundbreaking images, taking on exciting and challenging projects and doing what in fact us photographers love to do and that is Taking Images that stir the mind and the soul. We have a new feel to the business at the moment, a new spring in the step, and we have plans afoot to keep that fresh momentum going. There have been meetings, where would we be without our meetings, copious ammounts of good coffee have been consumed, thanks to the guys and girls at our fav venue Cafe Nero, and there will be lots more to come, generating a plan of attack for next year and into the next 11 years. In fact the only thing puzzling me at the moment is how the 2012 olympics will impact on our business model. Will people be getting married that year due to the olympics, will there be locations with the Olympic venues where people could take part in civil ceremonies ?? interesting eh !
So thats what we have been up to, more in my next posting on the outcome of all our recent activity
May your God keep you safe whoever and wherever you are

Steve & Belinda Hunts Wedding

2009 September 6

Hello and welcome to Steve & Belinda Hunts Wedding. We met Steve and Belinda earlier on this year and after a pleasant chat about the pros and cons of digital photography versus real old film, steve announced he was getting married and looking for a photographer ! Fortunately for us, Steve and Belinda booked us for the big day, Saturday August 1st with the day starting out from Salterns Marina in Poole on a red Routemaster bus for the guests and Luke and Zoey. I started the day with Belinda in Wareham, ably assisted by Julie and despite the appaling wet weather, some great pictures were taken. With the ceremony in Wareham, pictures in the Priory Hotel gardens, a trip from Wareham to Salterns Marina on the Purbeck gem pleasure boat and reception at the marina, it was a long day, an amazing day, and we finally had some sunshine to take some amazing shots by the boats of the marina and to light the cutting of the cake on the balcony of the marina hotel.

My words will never do justice to the Happy Couple who planned meticulously every tiny detail, who comissioned us and to the guests who made our day so much easier, but the selection of pictures here, may

Many thanks for visiting, Robb, Julie, Luke & Zoey

Bournemouth Air Show Pictures

2009 September 5

Hello everyone, I seem to be always starting my recent blog updates with “sorry for the lack of posting but things have been so busy here”

With the Bournemouth Air Show taking place at several times above our place here on the cliffs of Southbourne, there was no chance of us missing the show for anything. Thursday was spent on the cliffs at the end of the road in the most horrific of winds. How the pilots managed to perform the amazing stunts in wind i had trouble standing up in was truly outstanding. friday we spent sipping champagne with our hosts for the day Merley House of Wimborne. We are recommended photographers for the House and were invited to spend the day with them at their hospitality area very near the centre of the Air Display, so thank you to all at Merley House for looking after us all. Saturday saw Breanne and I walking the 2 miles or so to the middle of the display area to get the best possible vantage point for the show. the weather was scorching, i managed to get burnt, and i must say thank you to the guy who lent me some suntan cream for Breanne, it was much appreciated, hope you got some good shots and the kids some Haribou !

The Bournemouth Air Show was the biggest by far so far and brought tens of thousands of people to Bournemouth over the four day event. It also brought trafic chaos to most of the seafront area with some people enduring a three hour wait to get out of the town. Despite all of the trials and tribulations, everyone that i spoke to said it was worth the effort and a great time was had by all.

As usual with us here at EventPhotographyOnline the best images are posted here, so enjoy:

Models & Photographers commissioned together ?

2009 July 9

Hello and good morning to all my faith full blog readers, today I have a question i would like your thoughts on

Would a commissioning editor commission Models and Photographers and possibly venues / studio’s together ?

Normally the commissioning editor would have models on tap through an agency and a regular (same safe images every time !) photographer that they know and trust, and for that matter the venue booked as well.

So what I would like to know is, would you commission both together ?

Clearly the thinking behind this is that we have several models that we work closely with who are very comfortable with us and our working style who have asked us to create a portfolio page on our website for each of them. Now I am not interested in creating a Model agency, there’s enough of those out there (though not that many good ones) I just want to be working more, and getting the girls greater exposure along with us.

That’s it, simples :-)

Saturdays Wedding & Prom Dress Shoot, another amazing day

2009 July 6

Hi Guys and Gals, after the succes of last Sundays shoot, we organised a second shoot at the nearby Orangery Suite in Wimborne.

Graham at the Orangery was completely brilliant and trusting as he left us to our own devices in his beautiful three acres of walled garden, which gave us the freedom to progress the day at our own pace. As usual it was a little manic, temperatures were climbing, and I was well nearly under control, and Luke was great all day looking after all our fantastically georgous models ( I cant imagine why he stays working with me !!) and of course taking stunning pictures of them as well !

As soon as I can, I will post sample images on here first

Thank You to everyone who came along from the very young models to our assistants to family and friends to boyfriends, nans and the Orangery cat !! You all added something to the success of our day

Bridal and Prom wear shoot, a fabulous but hectic days shoot at Merley House

2009 July 3

Bloggers, you will like this. We were fortunate to be asked to shoot some Wedding and Prom dresses for a very good friend of mine who designs and manufactures, yes you guessed it, Wedding and Prom dresses! I asked our good friends at Merley House, Wimborne if we could use the house for the shoot and they agreed, so after a lot of planning, sleepless nights, and last minute adverts to find some fresh faces, we got the show on the road.

Below are a few of the pictures: Hope you like them
